Welcome to Nūring — A Moment of Presence, a Chrome browser extension designed to transform your new tab into a calm, mindful space through daily Islamic wisdom, prayer times, and breathing guidance.

By installing or using this extension, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please uninstall the extension.

01 Nature of the Extension

Nūring is a free, non-commercial Chrome extension built for personal spiritual enrichment. It replaces the browser's default new tab page with an interface that displays:

• Daily rotating messages from the Quran, Hadith, and Islamic reflections
• Location-aware Islamic prayer times (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha)
• Hijri and Gregorian date display
• A breathing animation with centering prompts
• A downloadable and shareable daily wisdom card
• A live clock and light/dark mode toggle

02 Location Data & Privacy

To provide accurate, location-aware prayer times, Nūring may request access to your device's geolocation via the browser's built-in Geolocation API.

If you deny location access, the extension defaults to Mecca (Makkah al-Mukarramah) coordinates for prayer time calculations. You may revoke geolocation permission at any time through your browser settings.

Data we collect: None. Nūring does not collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information.

03 Third-Party Services

Nūring uses the following external services to deliver parts of its functionality:

• Aladhan API (aladhan.com) — for prayer time calculations. Your approximate coordinates are sent to this service to retrieve daily timings. Please refer to Aladhan's own privacy policy for details.
• Google Fonts — for typography (Fraunces and Inter typefaces). Google Fonts may log your IP address when fonts are loaded. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Nūring has no control over these third-party services and accepts no responsibility for their terms, availability, or data practices.

04 Content & Attribution

The daily messages displayed by Nūring include verses from the Holy Quran, authenticated Hadith (sayings and traditions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), and general Islamic reflections.

• Quranic translations are provided for educational and spiritual reference purposes only. They are not intended as definitive or authoritative rulings.
• All content is curated with care and sincerity. If you believe any content is inaccurate or inappropriate, please contact us at hello@nuring.com.
• Background imagery included in the extension is either originally created for Nūring or used with appropriate rights.

05 Download & Share Feature

Nūring allows you to download and share the daily wisdom as a branded image card. By using these features, you agree to:

• Use shared content respectfully and in a manner consistent with Islamic values.
• Retain the Nūring branding and source attribution visible on generated cards and not alter or misrepresent the content.
• Not use generated cards for commercial purposes without prior written permission from Nūring.

06 Browser Permissions

Nūring requests minimal browser permissions in accordance with the principle of least privilege:

• storage — to save your theme preference (light/dark mode) and cache prayer times locally in localStorage. No data leaves your device.
• newtab override — to replace your new tab page with the Nūring interface.
• Geolocation (optional, browser-prompted) — to calculate prayer times for your location.

No other permissions are requested or required.

07 Disclaimer of Warranties

Nūring is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. While we strive for accuracy in all displayed content and calculated prayer times, we do not guarantee:

• The uninterrupted availability of the extension or third-party APIs
• The absolute accuracy of prayer times for your specific location (times are calculated estimates and may vary based on method and elevation)
• Compatibility with all future versions of the Chrome browser

Prayer times displayed are calculated using the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) method (Method 2) via the Aladhan API. Users in regions following different juristic methods are advised to verify times locally.

08 Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nūring and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the extension, including reliance on prayer times displayed by the extension.

09 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the extension following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Significant changes will be announced via the nuring.com website.
